OpenStack is the newest addition to the cloud computing arena. It was released by RackSpace and is the culmination of millions of dollars of development in conjunction with NASA. It is an open-source project which hopes to spur development of cloud computing standards. This is a risky move because you’ve got to believe that most of the code that runs Rackspace’s own cloud hosting is in this release. Let’s hope that the calculated risk is worth it.
